MEDICARE

Medicare is health insurance for:

People 65 years of age or older

Some people under age 65 with disabilities

People of all ages with end-stage renal disease (permanent failure of the kidneys requiring dialysis or a kidney transplant, also known as ESRD)

Original Medicare is a fee-for-service health plan that has two parts: Part A (Hospital Insurance) and Part B (Medical Insurance).

Skilled Nursing Facilities

home health care

Generally, you do not pay the monthly premium for Medicare Part A if you

or your spouse paid their Medicare taxes for a certain amount of time while they worked. If you're not eligible for Medicare Part A with no premium, you may be able to purchase Part A.

Durable medical equipment (such as wheelchairs, walkers, hospital beds, and other equipment)

Many preventive services (like screenings, shots, and annual “wellness” visits)

Most people pay the standard monthly Part B premium. Note: Original Medicare pays much, but not all, of the cost of health care services and supplies. Medicare supplement insurance (Medigap) policies, sold by private companies, can help pay for some of your remaining health care costs, such as copays, coinsurance, and deductibles.

An “all-in-one” alternative to Original Medicare. These “all-inclusive” plans include Part A, Part B, and usually Part D.
Plans may have lower out-of-pocket costs than Original Medicare.
Most plans offer extra benefits that Original Medicare doesn't cover, like vision, hearing, and dental services.
Medicare Part D (prescription drug coverage)

Offered by private insurance companies that follow rules set by Medicare
It can help lower your drug costs and protect against rising drug costs
